What Winora sends

Winora has no account, no telemetry, no ads and no auto-update. It sends no data about you or your PC to anyone.

Winora does not open web links. On the About part of Settings you copy an address and paste it into your browser yourself.

A few actions use the network through Windows itself:

  • After a DNS change on the Network page, Winora makes one test lookup of a Windows connectivity name, to check that names still work.
  • Repair the component store may download good files from Windows Update.
  • Restoring a removed app from the Store opens the Microsoft Store, which downloads the app.

What Winora stores and where

Everything Winora keeps stays on your PC, in two folders:

  • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Winora holds your preferences, such as language and theme, and a small local log.
  • %ProgramData%\Winora holds the records of the changes Winora made, so History can show and undo them. Folders you move to Quarantine also wait here.

The Action center keeps its recent items for 30 days. It saves only the text, severity, time and page of each item.

Profiles you save stay on your PC. Exported profile files go to the folder you choose.

Settings shows the data folder under Local data folder. Click Open to see it.

Diagnostics

Winora makes a diagnostics archive only when you click Export diagnostics in Settings. It saves the archive in a folder you choose. Nothing is uploaded.

The archive holds versions, error-code counts, redacted log lines and operation states. It never contains your files, user name, machine name or setting values. You decide whether to attach it to a report.

Administrator rights

Winora asks for administrator rights when it starts. It needs them to change settings for the whole PC, services, scheduled tasks and installed programs. Without them, Winora changes only the settings of your own account, and the other pages are view only.

Removing Winora

Removing Winora does not put your Windows settings back. Undo the changes you want back in History before you remove it.
