Bookmark Scope
Get started
- Quick start and first runIn about ten minutes you will see every bookmark you already have for the site you are on, open the full library dashboard, find a duplicate, and learn how to undo a delete.
- Installation, updates and removalTwo ways to install, how updates behave, what survives an update, and exactly what happens to your data when you uninstall.
Everyday use
- The popup: scope, search and quick actionsThe popup is for quick, scoped triage of the site you are on. Anything bigger belongs in the dashboard.
- Dashboard tourThe dashboard is the full-library workspace: search, filter, group, select, clean up, check links and back up, all in one place.
- Finding and searchingSearch is substring matching with a handful of operators. Filters and tag chips narrow it further. URL identity options decide what counts as a duplicate.
- Organizing: tags, folders and movingTags are labels that sit beside your folders. Moving and reordering uses the real bookmark tree. Folders themselves are still managed in Chrome.
- Cleaning up: duplicates, untitled, old and collisionsFind the clutter, preview what a cleanup will do, and know the limits of Undo before you press delete.
Link health
- Link health: checking, scanning and repairingLink health is the only feature that contacts the sites you bookmarked. It is off until you ask, it asks permission first, and it never edits anything by itself.
- Review reminders and notificationsBookmark Scope shows at most three kinds of notification. Here is what triggers each one, and how to set up review reminders.
Saved work
- Smart viewsA smart view is a saved recipe for looking at your library. Open it later and it is recalculated against the bookmarks you have then.
- Backup, restore, import and exportUse a snapshot before you change a lot, import to bring bookmarks in, and export to take a readable copy out. Know what each one keeps.
Reference
- Command palette and keyboard shortcutsPress Ctrl+Shift+P (Cmd+Shift+P on Mac) in the dashboard to run any maintenance command from the keyboard.
- Settings referenceOpen settings from the popup's More controls menu, the dashboard's More actions menu, or the extension's Options page.
- Appearance, themes, palettes and languagesMake Bookmark Scope match your browser, your taste and your language.
Trust and support
- Privacy, permissions and dataBookmark Scope has no server, no account and no analytics. The one thing that touches the network is link checking, and only after you grant permission.
- Diagnostics exportIf you report a problem, a diagnostic file helps, and it is designed not to contain your bookmarks.
- Privacy policyBookmark Scope has no server, collects nothing about you, and sends no data to its author or to any third party.
- Troubleshooting and FAQFind your symptom, read the likely reason, and try the fix.
- Limits and known limitationsKnowing the limits is part of using a tool safely. Hard limits first, then things that are unfinished.
